Welcome.

Thanks for visiting At Work in the Word.  My goal is to provide you with thoughtful and thought provoking studies of the Bible.  Join with me as we seek to be good workers, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.  Please look around, read, and become a part of the conversation.

I have two studies available to you.

One study is on the model prayer of Jesus from Matthew 6 — The Lord’s Prayer.   As it turns out, there is more in this brief bit of Scripture than you might expect.  The Lord’s Prayer is not a mere devotional reading.  There is hard teaching within it and a requirement for deep thinking.  These are the words of Jesus after all.

At the close of each lesson is space for your comments and/or questions.  Discussion is invited.  If you would like a set of study questions to accompany each lesson — great for deeper study or to lead a group — just send me an email..

The second study is a study on baptism.  Baptism, as it turns out, is a controversial topic in many Christian circles.  The intensity of the debate is surprising because the Bible speaks clearly about baptism and there does not appear to have been any disagreement about it in the early church.  The goal of the study here is merely to take an honest look at what the Scripture actually says about the subject.  Join as simple seeker of the truth and see what God has to say.

  1. Hello Chuck,

Im not sure if you remember me but, you and your family have always had a great presence in my life and my relationship with God. Thankyou for all of your love and hard work. You have had such an impact on my life and the life of my children. It may seem so silly but, I was so against church before I came to you guys. Im not sure if it was your dear, sweet, wife. Beautiful and genuinely loving, like no other person I have ever met. Or it could have been the emotion I saw when you were sharing Gods words and teachings on Sunday mornings, that would sometimes bring you to tears. Not tears that needed attention, but tears that showed me a side of Gods word I had never known before. The side that represented Gods true deep love and longing for my heart. I never fully understood that love before. Those moments and realizations have changed me and my relationship with God. Im so greatful. You and your family created an environment that allowed my heart to let the message I needed to hear in. 🙂

Sending much love and respect to you and your family.

    Billie (BJ)

  2. Of course I remember you, BJ. Thank you for your kind words and for sharing how God has been at work in your life. You are a blessing.
    Chuck
